Datsun 260z

Immaculately restored 1974 Datsun

This stunning 1974 Datsun 260z has been painstakingly restored and cared for, and it might just be one of the best examples remaining. This LHD 260z was imported from California in 2019 and was subject to a full nut and bolt restoration by Pilgrim Motorsport. Having covered just 23,868 miles, it doesn’t at all show its near 50 years of age. The engine bay and underbody look fresh from the factory, and it is completely rust free.

Having been resprayed during the restoration, the silver metallic 306 paint job is flawless, and the body is unmarked. It features the original 14 inch pressed steel alloy wheels. The interior is fully leather clad, with red leather seats and black leather lining the dash, door panels, and almost every other surface in the cabin. The restoration focused on keeping the car as original as possible, and the car features the original Audiovox cassette in favour of a modern replacement, as well as original trims and finishings throughout. This two-seater coupe doesn’t feature the 2+2 layout like some models, which results in extra boot space and a lighter kerb weight.

Featuring the same carbureted 2.6 L L26 inline 6 engine used in all first generation Z cars, it had an output of 162 hp at 5,600 rpm, and 157 lb⋅ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. It could launch from 0 to 60 mph in just 8 seconds, and maxed out at 127 mph. This 260z has a four-speed manual transmission, and has independent front and rear suspension with MacPherson struts and Chapman struts respectively, with lower wishbones, coil springs, and telescopic dampers. The engine bay looks immaculate looking just as it would have looked fresh out of the factory.

This brilliant Datsun 260z is fully documented and UK DVLA registered for peace of mind for any buyer. With astonishingly low mileage and being recently restored, you will be hard pressed to find a better example. For any Datsun, Nissan or Japanese car enthusiast, this would be the centrepiece of any collection small or large.
